Japan's government has warned some areas that tap water, milk and spinach may be radioactive. With the news that seawater around Fukushima contains high levels of radioactive iodine, sushi is also off the menu for some. Contamination levels are increasing, and although they are not yet considered dangerous, the international market is beginning to react. China and Taiwan have announced extra tests on Japanese food imports, while the US has banned the import of produce from the affected zone. Al Jazeera's

Reports from Syria say security forces have killed six people after storming a mosque in the southern city of Deraa. Locals say heavy gunfire and tear gas was used shortly after midnight, but the government says that its security forces only moved in to prevent an "armed gang" from attacking. It's the worst violence in a week of anti-government protests in the city, and represents the strongest challenge yet to President Bashar al-Assad's rule. Al Jazeera's Omar al Saleh reports.

With no communication facilities and little structure to their forces, they are left to run sporadic raids against Gaddafi's troops, before coming under fire and returning. Al Jazeera's James Bays reports from the front line and comes under fire himself to describe the scene on the road to Ajdabiya.

Authorities in Bangladesh have rescued 30 people, including children, found chained up at a factory on the outskirts of the capital, Dhaka. Police conducted the raid following a tip-off that people were being tortured and held as slaves. Al Jazeera's Nicolas Haque reports.

In Japan, rescue teams are continuing to search for the bodies of those killed by the earthquake and tsunami. Twelve days on, just over 9,000 people are now known to have died but more than 13,000 others are still missing and nearly 270,000 people have lost their homes or been forced out by contamination. The town of Minamisoma lies just 16 miles away from the Fukushima nuclear plant. As Rupert Wingfield-Hayes reports many of its residents have left some may never return.

Fresh explosions and gunfire have been heard in Tripoli, as international coalition forces continue to bombard Libya. The country's government says further civilian casualties occured following a third day of allied air strikes. Meanwhile, troops loyal to the Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi are reportedly attacking rebel strongholds in the west.
